Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by mobile services?

Nichols PT & Wellness comes to you.  We can meet at your home, work, or an appropriate public space.  We will bring any equipment needed including a portable mat.

How do you accept payment?

Currently we accept payment via cash, check, or Venmo.

Do you take insurance?

Nichols PT & Wellness is an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies. We operate on a private-pay service model, where the cost of care is due at the time of the appointment.  However, you can submit a self-claim to your insurance company, if you'd like, which is something many of our patients choose to do. The necessary documentation will be provided after each session to help streamline the self-claim process for you. Reimbursements vary between insurance companies and cannot be guaranteed by Nichols PT & Wellness.

Can I use my HSA or FSA funds?

Yes you can, however we do not currently accept credit card payments.  You will have to pay for your services up front and then submit for reimbursement.  We are happy to provide the proper documentation for your reimbursement.

Do I need a referral from my physician?

In the state of Kansas, you do not need a referral to be evaluated by a physical therapist. If medical need is determined, then we will make sure to include your primary care physician in your plan of care.

Do you travel outside of Manhattan, KS?

Yes, but a travel fee may be added to the charge based on mileage.

Do you schedule on nights and weekends?

These times are very limited and may incur an additional fee.

Do you see Medicare patients?

Nichols PT & Wellness cannot accept cash for services that would normally be covered by Medicare, however, this is based on medical necessity.  If your goals are to get back to a recreational activity you enjoy or to simply build strength for safe independent living, we can do that!

What are the benefits of seeing an “out of network” provider”?

Working with an out-of-network provider can have massive benefits to your care, your overall experience, and ultimately your outcome. This is because an out-of-network provider doesn’t have to agonize over which treatments are covered or not covered and how much time is spent with each specific type of treatment within your session. This allows Dr. Nichols to better tailor a plan of care to your needs and goals, not the insurance’s.

Additionally, Dr. Nichols is able to be 100% focused on you in a one-on-one setting. Your treatment sessions will never be double-booked or overlap with other patients. This means patients get the most personalized and high-quality care, which can ultimately lead to less visits, less overall out of pocket costs, and a more rapid recovery.
